Dr. Elisa Martelli
Dr. Elisa Martelli is a knowledgeable contact for art, history, and linguistics. Florentine art and modern philology in particular are her main focus. After living abroad in London and Malta for a few years, Elisa returned to Florence to continue her studies. We met her in Florence, where she conducts guided tours of museums and art galleries, and we were impressed with her knowledge and personable charisma. Elisa graduated from the University of Bologna with a degree in Communication Sciences and a thesis about contemporary art projects in Tuscany. Currently she is completing a second degree in Modern Philology, that deals with the study of original texts and written records, proving the authenticity of their original form and meaning. She is currently writing a dissertation on the use of mythology in Florentine art from 1550-1650, focusing on the first opera. Elisa also writes articles on art and artists’ life. She enjoys sharing her passion for Florence by talking about the city’s art, history, and literature as well as telling humorous and exciting “behind the scenes” stories. As a trained sommelier, Elisa also adds something extra to her interesting portfolio. We are honoured to have her as part of our team with her journalistic contribution.
